The most important thing about this vintage patent pickup was its warm, smooth
tone and sustain that was unlike anything heard before. The SH-1 is built
with the same kind of enameled wire, nickel-plated studs, and balanced coil windings
that humbucker inventor Seth Lover used in his first pickups. It looks and
sounds just like a '59. Available in black, zebra (cream & black), reverse zebra and white. for both neck and bridge position. |

It's a good choice for players who need a traditional vintage tone with increased

If you’ve followed Pantera’s rise to the top of the metal heap, then you’re already
well aware of the searing, crushing, metal massacre that is Dimebag Darrell’s
signature guitar tone. Now, that tone is yours with the SH-13 Dimebucker™. The Dimebucker uses a powerful ceramic magnet coupled with stainless steel blades for boot kickin’ attitude. The secret to the Dimebucker’s hard-hitting crunch is the small amount of metal mass in the core of the pickup. This allows the SH-13 to have both high d.c. resistance and a high resonant peak. The result is a high-output, aggressive humbucker with lots of treble bite and clarity, as well as punchy bass response and exceptional dynamics. The Dimebucker is perfect for heavy rock and metal; and rocks equally hard with tube and solid-state amps. |
The SH-55 was designed jointly by Seymour and humbucker inventor Seth Lover . Just like the original 1955 P.A.F.s, the SH-55 utilizes a nickel silver bottom plate, butyrate plastic bobbins; plain enamel wire, an Alnico bar magnet, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape. The SH-55 uses a nickel silver cover instead of brass, which magnetically eliminates too much of the pickup's natural high-end tone. To be completely true to the original design and tone, the pickup is not wax potted. The tone is vintage P.A.F. The neck pickup will warm up even the coldest guitar. And the unpotted covers give the bridge pickup just enough boldness to break up early and really cut. Single conductor cable standard. Four conductor cable available upon request Also available in Gold plated colour. Phone for price and details |
The SH-14 Custom 5 pickup was developed by an eager group of contributors to the
Seymous Duncan web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an
SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom with an Alnico 5. Tonally, the Custom 5 is a compromise
between these two pickups. It offers the optimum balance of warmth, punch,
power and clarity. Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it’s still very strong and powerful. It’s fuller than an SH-5 with softer highs, more bass, and slightly less output. It’s got a great rhythm sound and a beautiful, deep singing lead tone. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Think of the Custom 5 as a higher output SH-1 ’59 with a deeper bottom end and expanded output. |

Ultra high output humbucker built for aggressive playing styles. Recommended for punk, garage, thrash, metal and other heavy rock styles. Designed for the heaviest tones a passive pickup can produce. The combination of three ceramic magnets, over-wound coils and twelve black oxide cap screws make the Invader an electrifying force of energy. The wide magnetic field pumps power into your amp with a totally heavy (Bass) sound. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. |
High output tone for heavy rhythms and speed riffs. Used for classic rock, heavy rock, hip hop, fusion and aggressive solo playing. Double rows of Allen screw pole pieces help fine tune the high end, leaving a tone that’s fat and chunky, yet perfectly defined for speed riffs. Gives tonal control in high-gain situation. Less aggressive than an SH-6 Distortion. More articulate than an SH-5 Custom. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. |
Like a higher output ‘59 Model with a deeper bottom end and expanded output. Perfect for pop, country, blues, classic rock and heavy rock. Developed by contributors to the Seymour Duncan web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom Custom with an Alnico 5. Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the Custom 5’s tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it’s still very strong and powerful. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. |
Style with added “growl.” Great for classic rock, jazz-rock fusion, heavy rock and aggressive instrumental rock. This pickup was designed in the Custom Shop for guitar legend George Lynch. It has the big open sound of the ‘59 Model ™with a little less bite and a little more growl. The tone is big, percussive with a defined treble response that doesn’t get harsh. It uses one row of allen screws and one row of standard slotted screws for a unique “airy” sound. Often paired with a moderate output neck pickup like the SH-1 ‘59 Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. |
For brighter toned instruments -hotter-than-vintage humbucker. Great for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam, and hard rock. Originally designed as a recreation of the pickups in the ’59 Les Paul® Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues-rock. The Pearly Gates is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top end that make harmonics jump out of the guitar. Often used in both neck and bridge positions. Can be used in the bridge with an APH-1n Alnico II Pro in the neck for smoother tones; or, a Pearly Gates in the neck with an SH-11 Custom Custom for heavier rock sounds from the bridge position. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. |
Beefed up Patent Applied For tone for a hard-driving, kickin’ sound with the right
balance of power, sustain, and distortion. This pickup cuts through with a distinctive
high end and midrange attack. The ceramic magnet and custom coil design
give it compressed dynamics, an enhanced harmonic structure, and a punchy bass.
Perfect for dropped tunings without “mushing” out. Recommended for bridge position. Often a Duncan Custom is paired with an SH-1 ‘59 in the neck for bigger P.A.F. tones in the bridge and vintage-correct P.A.F. tones in the neck. |
Recommended for old school metal, nu-metal, gothic, garage, punk, thrash and other
heavy rock styles. Great for drop tunings. Yields high output while retaining clarity. The massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings deliver tremendous power and raw distorted rock sounds. More aggressive than the SH-5 Duncan Custom. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. Available for both neck and bridge positions. Often a Distortion bridge is paired with an SH-2n Jazz Model in the neck for good clean tones and versatility. |
The Alnico 2 magnet and moderate windings yield a warm, sweet tone with more natural
string vibration for great sustain. Classic rock players who get their distortion
from the amp rather than the pickup love the APH-1. It allows them to back
off the crunch and get beautiful clean tones with softer attack. Compared to
the ’59, the Alnico II Pro has a rounder sound with a spongier bass response.
Comes with four-conductor hookup cable and no logo. Often the APH-1 is used in both neck and bridge positions. Or, in the neck with a higher output pickup like an SH-11 Custom Custom or SHPG-1b Pearly Gates for heavier rock or hotter blues sounds from the bridge position. |
Often used in the neck with a Hotter pickup like SH-4 JB or SH13 Dimebucker for extra versatility or may be used in the bridge with the SH-2 Jazz model |
Often used with the SH-4 JB (Seymour Favourite) or a SH-5 Duncan Custom for
more diverse tones. |

All Seymour Duncan Humbuckers are manufactured to a traditional string spacing of
1-15/16 inch (49mm) between the centres of the outer pole pieces. On a 6 string guitar The distance from the high E string to the low E string measured above the bridge pickup Use a Trembucker. If the distance is greater than the above. Trembuckers are manufactured with the same specifications as Humbuckers but will accommodate string spacing of 2-1/16 inches. (52mm) Mostly used on Tremolo style guitars. |
Some players reduce the 500k control pots to 250k on the JB Model .This tends to
smooth out some of the high tones from this strong treble pickup. If it's too high give it a Try! If you really want it higher Try a 1M Ohm pot instead. |

9-volt active humbucker for aggressive playing styles. Recommended for old school
metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles. The “other” USA-made active humbuckers use unbalanced inputs in a differential preamp. The problem is, an unbalanced differential preamp is not very effective at cancelling hum. Our engineers figured out how to capture the tone that players want in an active design, but using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, plus more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Blackouts have more tone than other active pickups. All versions come with all necessary mounting hardware, including pots, jack, and a battery clip. For all humbucker guitars. The blade magnets make this pickup suitable for both humbucker and Trembucker string spacings. |

Guitar tones are getting heavier and heavier. It’s just the state of modern rock
music today. That’s a fact. Seymour Duncan responds with the SH-15 Alternative
8, Their first production pickup to use an Alnico 8 magnet. The Alternative
8 starts with hot coils wound for maximum output. With the addition of the
Alnico 8 magnet, the output is enhanced with a huge, punchy sound, full of fat
mids and present upper-mids. This is a dynamic pickup that doesn’t get “sizzly”
or dark. The Alnico 8 is perfect for all rock styles and it’s great for use with
high gain amps. The Alternative 8 is recommended for the bridge position and it’s available in standard humbucker and in Trembucker spacing. It matches great with a moderate output neck pickup like the SH-1n ’59 or the SH-2n Jazz Model. (available Spring 2008) for genre-spanning guitar tones that range from straight ahead rock to metalcore. |
SH-15 Alternative 8 |

Some would argue that guitarists are a greedy bunch. They want it all. And they want
it now. Two of things they want are the full and rich sound of a humbucker
and the fat and clear tone of a vintage P-90. Five decades after the creation of
Seth Lover’s classic design, the humbucker pickup still reigns. It’s the loud
and proud sound of rock ‘n roll from Zeppelin to black metal. And guitarists love the sound of the venerable P-90 single coil. Predecessor to the humbucker, the P-90 is the archetypal fat single coil that gave rise to the tones that birthed jazz, blues, rockabilly, and classic rock. Until now, if a guitarist wanted both tones, either they would have to installboth a humbucker and a P-90 in different positions in the same guitar; or they’d have to haul two guitars to the gig. Enter P-Rails™, Seymour Duncan’s newest pickup. It’s a full-size humbucker that splits to a full-size P-90; The P-Rails are available in both neck and bridge-calibrated positions. In a guitar setup for two humbuckers, a pair of P-Rails will give even the greediest guitarist the best of both humbucker and P-90 worlds. A single two-way switch (pushpull or mini-toggle not supplied) allows the player to switch between both full-size humbucker and P-90 sounds. |
But the greediest guitarists would not be content with merely two great and as-yet
unachievable tones in the same guitar. No… the greediest guitarists would also
want the unmistakable chime and “cluck” of the legendary Stratocaster® as well.
For them, P Rails delivers, thanks to its Alnico powered rail pickup. A three-way
switch (DPDT on-off-on) brings in the added dimension of an authentic-sounding
vintage Strat®. And, when both the neck and bridge rails are used together,
the tone is reminiscent of the “2” and “4” sounds of a great Strat. P-Rails are available individually or in a neck and bridge set. Other than the addition of the switch, no other modification is necessary to achieve a wide variety of classic guitar tones. Like all Seymour Duncan pickups, P-Rails are hand-built in the Santa Barbara workshop. |
